Laura Branch is a second year International Policy Management graduate student with Kennesaw State University. She was born and raised in Sacramento, California but relocated to Georgia to attend Clark Atlanta University for undergrad. Laura received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Clark Atlanta and continued to the University of Southern California for her first master’s degree, also in Social Work. She attributes her passion for advocacy work to her childhood, as she was introduced to service and nonprofit organizations at a young age. Today, Laura continues to serve in the mental health field, specifically working with individuals living with HIV/AIDS. As she serves, and pursues a second master’s degree, she is also seeking clinical licensure to expand her reach in her fields. While her background is in direct service, Laura believes that diving into the field of international policy management provides her expansive opportunities for service and advocacy work with underrepresented groups. She takes pride in continuously learning the changing needs of people and finding ways to support those needs. Laura’s hope is to increase the quality of life for every person she is opportune to serve, guiding change through research, engagement, and policy.
